Independent consultancy spanning three decades
We are an independent consultancy formed in 1984. We undertake strategic and applied research into design, construction, management and operation of the built environment, from individual buildings to urban design. We review the ownership and performance of the building stock, study the use of new design and planning tools and guidance, and assess the impact of new initiatives and technologies. We work with leading international and national organisations to identify, capture and promote best practice. We have extensive experience in workshop design and facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and in monitoring and evaluation of research programmes and projects.
We publish widely on sustainability, climate change, as well as the rethinking construction agenda. We have a particular interests in tangibles and intangibles – not just in relation to good design and its outcomes, but to urban regeneration, cultural heritage, and user-centric civic services.
We produce lay and technical reports, audits, best practice guides, case studies, workshop and seminar presentations, and posters and promotional material. Collaborating with others, we contribute to databases and website designs. We maintain close academic links to leading university departments in architecture, engineering and the built environment.
